Embedded in the grown green continuance of the “Heinrich Braun” hospital area in Zwickau the new building of course as well as self-confidently adapts itself in the ensemble of the cultural monument.

The sharp- and multi-edged buildingform results from the subtle observation of the local circumstances and the functional and formative aims deriving from it. By positioning in the middle of the property the construction body receives an autonomous character with clear presence. According to the internal functions the roof is trained as an inclined flat roof, with high-level point (approx. 5m) in the public area.

In support of the historical, listed surroundings constructions the skin of the chemist’s shop was provided with mineral plaster. By a horizontal broom line structure the surface receives an additional iridescing effect.

Window elements are integrated as a slender aluminium swinging window construction surface-shortly into the facade. Two entrances mark themselves as own facade surfaces within the volume. They generate quasi important view axes for continuance constructions and surroundings.

As a significant reference to the main entrance of the chemist’s shop, this area was cut into the building volume and was dressed up with coated veneer wood records.

In continuation of the input material and in contrast to sharp edged appearance the main salesroom is stamped by curved pieces of furniture and wallpanels of warm wood (Amazaquoue) and fresh colours (apple green) – hard bowl and soft core.

The security of the main salesroom is underlined by big round upper lights with natural day light, up to the high frontdoors was consciously renounced additional windows in this space.

Beside the pieces of furniture of the main salesroom all the other functional pieces of furniture were also sketched for kitchen, lab, office, camp and consultation space individually by the architects and were made by a cabinet-maker.
