Kerr Gulch Highlands House by Entasis Group

Entasis Group, a Colorado-based design/build firm, have sent us the Kerr Gulch Highlands house, located in Evergreen, Colorado.

from Entasis Group:
This Bold New Modern Home designed and built by brothers Brian Ojala and Aaron Ojala with Entasis Group. The home is located on a pine-forested ridge in the foothills west of Denver. Careful consideration was given to the design and placement of this home to take full advantage of its hilltop location, solar orientation, and panoramic views including a stone-bridge entry and a dramatic 30-foot cantilevered sky deck.

A unique blend of natural materials including massive thermal Slate walls, Cedar, Steel, and Glass combined to create a new expression of Colorado Modernism. The soaring timbered ceiling appears to float over expansive glass walls and an open and spacious floor plan. The home plan is a fractured layout which allows the natural settings come back into the home. From every point in the home, the viewer will experience the outside nature.

The home uses green design by natural solar orientation. Since the home it rotated 15 degrees counterclockwise, it receives natural sun light on all sides of the home even in the winter. The home uses evergreen trees for natural shading in the summer, hydronic radiant floor systems, reclaimed timbers throughout, photovoltaic adaptable roof design.

All the doors (entry, garage), stone patterns, trim, metal work, stair treads and stringers, handrails, siding, windows, counter tops, bathroom cabinetry, outdoor bridge, were all custom designed and built on site.
