Casa M by Plan B Arquitectos

a. Space actions
The house is folded toward the rear of the lot to avoid a large area of filled land where it was not feasible to build. The house spreads through the modulation of cube rooms that allows all the main spaces to enjoy the distant landscape and also to coil on itself to define a backyard and a private and climatically controlled area. This house is a mixture between a courtyard and a lookout house. It is constructed though comfortable, orthogonal, simple modules, those add up and articulate into an overall dynamic setting.

b. Climate actions
Concrete parasols control the afternoon sun, large picture windows concentrate the lukewarm morning sun though greenhouse effect, the green roofing restores existing vegetation and softens abrupt temperature changes throughout the year, and round skylights provide natural lighting while heating the walk-in closets and laundry area.

c. Daily life
Designing a house in one level, allows different spatial relationships that connect horizontally. The parking spaces integrate to the courtyard, the main access is related to the distant landscape, the dining and living room is linked to cooking and to the outdoor terrace, the corridor that connects the rooms behaves as a chain of triangular living rooms from which the courtyard is enjoyed; the folds in the concrete roof generate triangular windows to be triangular in turn enjoy the patio, the deck folds generate concrete triangular windows in the rooms, connecting them to the vegetation on the rooftop.
